The Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday (29) granted permission to hold Wanni District TNA parliamentarian Sathasivam Kanagaratnam by another 90 days for the CID to continue investigations into the alleged links between the legislator and the LTTE.

Kanagaratnam was arrested on May 21 after arriving in the government controlled areas from the safe zone along with thousands of civilians following the end of the battle between the LTTE and the security forces.

CID officers said that the parliamentarian is found to have violated several laws under the emergency regulations and therefore requested for permission to hold him in custody for another 90 days for interrogation.

Following the CID request, the Magistrate granted permission to hold the parliamentarian after a personal inspection.
