Indonesia commends Si Lanka's relief effort in the Wanni

Indonesian Foreign Minister Dr. Hassan Wirajuda and other high ranking persons in the Indonesian Government commended the measures taken by the Sri Lankan Government to ensure that Tamil people rescued from the clutches of the LTTE have all necessary facilities.

 

   

 

 

 

Dr. Wirajuda conveyed these sentiments to Special Advisor to the President, Basil Rajapaksa who is currently in Indonesia.  In particular he praised the Uthuru Wasanthaya (Northern Spring) development programme launched in the Northern Province subsequent to wiping out terrorism.  Mr Rajapaksa had earlier elaborated on the comprehensive development thrust initiated by the Government in the war-torn areas.  He also expressed Sri Lanka's appreciation of the staunch support extended by Indonesia during deliberations on Sri Lanka at the UN in Geneva. 

 

Mr. Rajapaksa was accompanied by Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Indonesia, Nanda Mallawarachchi and Chairman of the BOI, Dhammika Perera.
