Youths interested to join police service

Tamil and Muslim youths of the eastern police are interested to join the police force as recruitment to police service has been launched in the east said the senior DIG, Jayantha Wickramaratne.

Application forms for recruitment are being issued through divisional secretariat, grama seva officers and police stations of the eastern province. 223 Tamils, 193 Muslims and 421 Sinhalese have submitted their applications so far from Vakarai, Chenkalady and Batticaloa.

Tamil speaking policemen are needed to the police force. 5 new police stations have been opened at Vakarai, Kokkotticholai, Vavunativu Karadiyanaru and Ayithiyamalai and 11 more police stations are to be opened. 5 police posts were opened in these areas and 42 more police posts are to be set up. After special training they will be deployed in the eastern province, he said further.
