The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission has resumed its activities in the Jaffna peninsula. The SLMM office has commenced its functions there, and an international monitor will be stationed there.

The services of the monitors had to be suspended and they were recalled to Colombo in September last year for safety reasons. Recently the monitors held talks with the government and the LTTE and a consensus have been reached. Following it, an international monitor is to take over the station said Stainer Swensor, the spokesman of the SLMM.
